Flight Reviews (FR)

What It Is
Per 14 CFR 61.56, every certificated pilot must complete a flight review with a CFI at least every 24 calendar months to act as pilot in command. The minimum requirement is one hour of ground instruction and one hour of flight – but we think your FR should be more than the minimum.
At Rocky Mountain Pilots, we tailor your flight review to your goals. Want to shake off rust? We'll focus on your weak areas. Want to add a tailwheel endorsement at the same time? We can structure the FR to accomplish both. Heading to the mountains? We'll make sure you're ready.

FR Options
Standard FR
Ground review of regulations and aeronautical knowledge, followed by flight covering maneuvers and airwork appropriate to your certificate and recent experience.
Minimum 2 hours total (1 ground + 1 flight)
Mountain Flying FR
Standard FR content plus focused mountain flying ground school and flight training. Covers density altitude, terrain avoidance, and Rocky Mountain conditions.
Half to full day
Tailwheel FR
Complete your FR while simultaneously working toward your tailwheel endorsement. Efficient use of time and instructor fees for pilots pursuing both.
Varies by experience level
Aircraft
Your flight review can be done in one of our aircraft, or in your own airplane if you own one. Either way, we'll come prepared to tailor the ground and flight portions to the aircraft you're flying.
Prerequisites
- Valid FAA Pilot Certificate (Private or higher)
- Current medical certificate or BasicMed
- Logbook for review
